This website is run by Okhiogbe Omonblanks Omonhinmin (Omon), the author of kids from the river, together with The Art Concept. We decide how the details you leave here are used. If you have a question about them, email theartconceptorg@gmail.com.

what we collect and why

When you ask for the PDF, we keep your name, email address, where you are in the world, your phone number, any social handles you give us, and whether you asked to be kept posted. We use them to email you the download link, to understand where the book’s readers are so readings can be planned near them, and to get in touch about the book. If you tick “keep me posted”, we also tell you about readings and new work.

When you ask for a hard copy, we take your name, email address, the country the book is going to, and whether you asked to be kept posted. We use them to send you Omon’s guide to receiving the book and to post it to you.

When you send a message, we take your name, email address and what you wrote, so we can reply.

We rely on our legitimate interest in sharing the book and replying to people who write to us. For updates about readings and new work, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

where your details are kept

PDF requests go into a private Google spreadsheet that only Omon and The Art Concept team can open. Hard copy requests are emailed to the member of the team who posts the books from Berlin. Messages are emailed to The Art Concept’s inbox. All of this runs through Google, which may store information outside the UK and the European Union under its standard data protection agreements. The website itself is hosted by GoDaddy, whose servers keep short technical logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the site running and secure.

We never sell your details or share them with anyone else.

how long we keep them

• PDF requests: up to three years, then deleted.
• Hard copy requests: until your book has arrived, then deleted.
• If you asked to be kept posted: until you ask us to stop.
• Messages: up to two years after our last reply.

your rights

You can ask to see the details we hold about you, correct them, have them deleted, or stop us using them. Email theartconceptorg@gmail.com and we will reply within a month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority where you live.

cookies

This site uses no cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Your browser remembers two small things on your own device: that you already have the PDF, so you are not asked again, and which language you chose for Omon’s biography. Neither is sent to us.
